A rugby ball is on well worn grass. The words Up 'n' Under are chalked out on the grass.

Fingersmiths in co-production with the New Wolsey Theatre.

The Wheatsheaf Arms amateur rugby league team has never won a game. They don’t have enough players and they have no kit. Can Arthur, our hero, coach them to beat the mighty Cobbler’s Arms in a cup final?

They need to beat Reg’s team The Cobblers Arms who aretop of the league, superbly fit, physically enormous and terrify every team they play. But how does Arthur train his new team? They are Deaf, he doesn’t sign and he only has 5 weeks to get his team into shape or he loses his house in the bet.

This fast moving and witty re-telling of John Godber’s award-winning and much-loved play, Up ’n’ Under will delight audiences, bringing together Fingersmiths’ visual and physical storytelling with a cast of Deaf and hearing actors using British Sign Language and spoken English.

All shows are BSL integrated and audio-described. Friday evening and Saturday matinee performances will be captioned.

There will be a post-show discussion after the Friday performance that will be BSL interpreted.
