Theatre Royal Access Information
The main entrance to the theatre is an impressive Victorian portico with six pillars. The portico shelters five sets of heavy double doors which open outwards.
The far left hand door of the Theatre’s main entrance is ramped and automated to enable easier access into the foyer. These doors open outwards. All other doors will stay open if pushed against the walls.
Customers may also enter the building via the stalls bar entrance on South Sherwood Street, opposite the main entrance to the Concert Hall. Please be aware that at certain times the bar can be extremely busy and so we recommend using the main entrance when possible.
Both entrances lead into the Theatre’s main foyer which contains the access desk, sweet kiosk, cloakroom, toilets, stalls bar and box office.
Level access to the Theatre’s auditorium is through the Stalls Right entrance, located in the main foyer. The Theatre’s wheelchair spaces are located at the rear of the auditorium, which on occasion can lead to a restricted view of the stage.
Should customers wish to transfer from a wheelchair to a seat they may do so and we will store their chair in the foyer for them.
We regret there is no lift available to customers in the Theatre Royal but we do endeavour to accommodate all our visitors.
An adapted toilet is available for customers with disabilities. This is located in the main foyer, just past the cloakroom.
Customer toilets are located in the main foyer, on the left hand side, between the cloakroom desk and stalls bar.
Further customer toilets are located on the upper circle level of the Theatre.
Royal Concert Hall Access InformationThis building is blue with large glass panels and doors. The door on the far right of the main entrance is automated and opens outwards.

Ramped Access is available from Burton Street, leading directly to the stalls foyer level.
The main entrance foyer contains the cloakroom, box office and lift. The stalls level (level 1) contains the lift, bar, auditorium entrances, sweet kiosk and toilets.
The Royal Concert Hall’s wheelchair spaces are located on the right hand side of the auditorium, with some spaces located at the rear and some on the ends of rows further towards the stage.
Due to the limited number of wheelchair spaces within the Royal Concert Hall, we recommend booking a space as soon as possible.

Concession Information:A 50% discount is offered to customers with disabilities attending our performances. Discounts are subject to status and availability.
Assistance Dogs:At the Royal Centre Nottingham, in both the Theatre and Concert Hall, Guide dogs are welcome in the auditorium during the performance. Alternatively, staff will be happy to offer a dog-sitting or walking service during a performance. If you are bringing a Guide Dog you will probably have informed the ticket office on making your booking.
Hearing Assistance:Both the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall have a Sennheiser Infrared transmission system that relays the show sound, via transmitters, to customers who have impaired hearing.
We offer two types of receiver: either in-ear headphones, worn like a stethoscope, or a neck loop which transmits to a hearing aid with a T setting. Although transmission is made to all sections of the auditoria, a weaker signal may be possible on extreme sides of the seating.
We recommend that customers wishing to use the Sennheiser Infrared Transmission System seat themselves, when possible, in the centre Stalls of the Theatre Royal on rows G, H, J, K, L and M or the centre block of the Dress and Upper Circle. In the Concert Hall, there are Sennheiser blackspots under the tiered level overhangs. We recommend that patrons buy tickets centrally on all levels whenever possible to ensure best reception.
Receivers are available free of charge from the Access Desk in the Theatre or the Cloakroom in the Concert Hall prior to a performance. Alternatively, they can be pre-booked by contacting our Access Officer, Emily Noakes on 0115 989 5609.
