Turn of the Screw, Henry James’ famous ghost story is rendered fresh, thrilling and moving in Tim Luscombe’s  brand new adaptation.

It’s quite too horrible.
For sheer terror?
For dreadful – dreadfulness! For general uncanny ugliness and horror and pain.
Oh, how delicious!

A young governess agrees to look after two orphaned children in Bly, a seemingly idyllic country house. But shortly after her arrival, she realises that they are not alone. There are others – the ghosts of Bly’s troubled past. The Governess will risk everything to keep the children safe, even if it means giving herself up to The Others.

Decades later she is confronted by the past, compelled to revisit the terrifying events of 1840 and account for what actually happened to her and the innocents under her protection.

This adaptation is faithful to James’ much-loved classic, retaining its much celebrated ambiguity and letting the audience draw their own conclusions about the events in Bly.

Tickets are now available for the Turn of the Screw Backstage Tour and Touch Tour.

Co-produced by the Mercury Theatre Colchester, Dermot McLaughlin Producers and Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.
